"So to choose 5 favourites from Craft Festival Cheltenham, by just heading over to the website. Who can do that?! I started with confidence. A while later I am trying to organise a short list, a while after that I organise myself a criteria. Why do I do this? The work is amazing - all of it! There is ceramics, Furniture and Wood, Glass, Leather, Metal and Silver, Mixed Media, Non Precious Jewellery, Paper and Print, Precious Jewellery and Textiles. The work is broad, it's great quality and it suites so many tastes. So after a few hours I have chosen five (but ask me again and I may change my mind. Best you visit yourself and decide really."
Representing the well thought out and considered work by all exhibitors. Liz Willis combines materials new and old in a unique and pleasing way. It’s intriguing work that makes you ponder different things at different times, it’s also well-made and very affordable, what’s not to love about something you can wear and roam around and show off.
I have to confess I own some of these, but you have to win a shortlisting of five if you can make someone smile every time they see some of the work, I am sure the drawings are modelled on my partner and I, even though the artist and I have never met. The pieces are functional and affordable and represents the makers that makes you smile, always worth a listing in the top in my view.
Griffin and Sinclair Furniture
This was nearly Brett Payne, and if I think about it too long it may be, let’s just decide. Griffin and Sinclair Furniture was chosen as it represents the high quality of all the exhibitors in the show. The furniture has clean lines, unique designs that respect and showcases the materials it is made from, beautiful.
Chosen to represent the start-ups, unique and well considered designs down to the links and findings on each piece of jewellery. It’s so good to be able to choose a start up in the top five that already shows good craftsmanship, quality and design in her work.
Represents the ‘just because you want it’ feeling when you get to see the work being exhibited at Cheltenham, these are fabulous and some pretty unique and jazzy shoes, they are bright, great attention to detail, well made and there are even multi coloured ones.
