Beautiful & Useful + Digital Craft Festival Co-Lab
With just 7 days to go until Digital Craft Festival, we asked our long-tern collaborator, design journalist and author of A London Floral, Natasha Goodfellow to cast her highly discerning eye to choose her 5 Favourites.
In recent years, Natasha has curated critically acclaimed, Beautiful & Useful craft fairs, the next of which will be held at Sussex Prairies on 18 & 19 September.
Lucy Burley
Lucy has been exhibiting with Beautiful & Useful (see below) from the beginning and I’m a huge fan of her coloured vases in rainbow tones as well as some very elegant neutrals. All look great with or without flowers in them, and in groups or on their own – though stopping at just one is hard!
Niamh Geraghty-Morris
There’s something very transporting about Niamh’s delicate prints. A single glance and I am back in the hot camping holidays of my childhood, or on the long walks of winter weekends, pushing on to make it home before the light fades completely. Magical.
Jules Hogan
There’s so much I love about Jules’s work – the beautifully subtle colours; the ‘just the right amount of’ patterning and, of course, the wonderful soft feel of the lambs’ wool she uses. I’m excited to see her new, naturally dyed yarns created from bark, flowers and extracts.
Jo’s architecturally inspired jewellery takes different metals – rose gold, yellow gold and sterling silver – and blends them together seamlessly. It’s a highly skillful accomplishment, and one as mesmerising as the West Oxfordshire sunsets which influence her colour palette.
Janine Partington
I’ve always loved Janine’s enamel work but I think I love her new leather pieces even more. That she can create such rich, confident, engrossing work with just leather, some lino tools and acrylic paint speaks volumes of her skill.
