I really love the fluid, elegant shapes from Lomas Furniture. They describe their approach as ‘a collaboration with the tree’ which really sings to me! The beautiful curves, warm tones and soft finishes are true and respectful to the natural material and also capture the careful touch of the maker.
I’ve loved and collected Clive’s work since I was a teenager and now my own young children have become his customers! I’m really looking forward to seeing him demonstrating at the Festival this year. Clive is undoubtedly one of the UK’s finest studio potters. His tactile wood-fired earthenware, decorated with warm, rich colours and confident marks, make all food look and taste better!
I particularly love Claire’s combination of soft blue enamelled copper with brushed silver. Claire’s collection is so cleverly designed. She creates eye-catching, statement earrings and boldly shaped pendants and rings, yet her smaller pieces of everyday wear have such beautiful, subtle flourishes, such as a little splash of 24ct gold, that the wearer feels special all the time.
I’m really looking forward to seeing Kate’s work at the Craft Festival. Her talent is just staggering! She captures the detail and beauty found in nature through recycled paper, wirework and stitch. Her flowers are exquisite and I love the way she displays her sculpted insects in cabinets as though they’re old museum exhibits.
It’s been such a pleasure to see Teresa’s practice evolve over the years. Originally working with embroidery, found vintage ephemera and printing, Teresa returned to college to immerse herself in the study of textiles, and here she found a love of hand weaving. Her business took a new direction and she hasn’t looked back! I really admire her confidence, and her new found passion for tactile, woven fabrics and fresh, uplifting colour palettes shines through in all that she does. She put on a really eye-catching (award winning) display at the Festival last year and I’m looking forward to seeing what she creates this year.
