Katherine Sorrell Chooses her Five Festival Favourites

Rebecca Proctor – Modern Craft Workshop
These wonderfully useable pieces combine a minimal Japanese aesthetic with a sense of traditional, robust English pottery. Very desirable!
Mirri Damer
Like so many Cornish makers, Mirri is inspired by what she sees when walking the coast. The results are sophisticated, pretty, unusual and a little bit irresistible.
Opi
The incredibly skilful Jane Ryan makes mechanical toys and automata for adults using locally sourced materials and reclaimed wood. They are irresistibly charming, somehow managing to be both simple and complex.
Elizabeth Loveday
Art meets textiles in Elizabeth’s work, which is ever-so-slightly bonkers but utterly compelling. She calls it ‘magic realism in fabric’, and there’s definitely a sense of other-worldliness in her beautifully made pieces.
Sarah Drew
Sarah’s work is just fabulous – I especially like her chunky statement necklaces made from foraged beach plastic. She’s all about sustainability, too, and for other pieces uses eco silver and gold, and recycled old jewellery.
