Digital Craft Festival
We had a truly exceptional response to our call out for our next Digital Craft Festival. We narrowed the selection to 150 makers of the very highest quality. Our makers are busy making, photographing and stocking their shops with new work to present to you over the weekend of November 27-29th.
We are also putting together some amazing events, workshops, talks, demonstrations, films and gatherings for you to enjoy. Some will be released soon so you can book your places in advance and some will be released when the event opens at the end of November.
Whilst you wait for the website to be ready, here is a preview of some of the makers you can meet at The Digital Craft Festival. You can follow our stories over on Facebook and Instagram.
The Capital of Craft
In our latest episode of The Capital of Craft, which is broadcast on Thursday, Sarah James from Craft Festival talks to ceramic artist, Justine Allison.
Based in her studio, deep in the countryside of West Wales, Justine hand builds with porcelain and they discuss the relationship between material, process and concept. Justine explores porcelain's fine and durable qualities juxtaposed with it's fragile and unpredictable nature.
They discuss the positive outcomes of lockdown and what Justine will be doing for the Digital Craft Festival in November. Justine's podcast will be available from 11am on Thursday September 25th. You can subscribe to The Capital of Craft podcast now via Apple and Spotify.
In our first episode, Sarah James, Craft Festival Director, talked to wooden surfboard maker, James Otter. As lockdown restrictions eased, Sarah visited James in his workshop on the coast of Cornwall. You can listen to their conversation now.
Next week, we talk with letterpress printer, Nick Hand from The Letterpress Collective.

With great sadness, we have learned that talented maker and woodsman, Ethan Osborne has died. He was a much loved presenter of BBC's, Money for Nothing and a beautiful carver of spoons. We send sincere sympathies to his family and friends. Also known as Hatchet & Bear, EJ Orborne wrote a lovely book called Spoon Carving which you can purchase Here
