It's been an Interesting Week
We've started doing regular live conversations on Instagram. Wifi allowing, we are joining Find a Maker members on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Yesterday we chatted with printmaker Sarah Stewart from her studio in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland.
5 Favourites from Find a Maker
Sarah has also chosen her 5 Favourites which are beautiful selection of makers using earthy tones and found objects.
Liz Willis
I love the contrast between the mud larked and found objects in Liz's work, juxtaposed with stitch and silver. I admire how she has repurposed found materials into something contemporary and wearable.
In-Cahoots
In-Cahoots boxes are real statement pieces. I’m always looking for somewhere to hide away all my knickknacks and a box like theirs would enable me to do it with style.
Katie Timson
Katie's ceramics are delectable - I love the soft tones and subtle pattern in her pieces.
Feather and Hay’s scarves and shawls echo the warm colours and textures of the Scottish landscape that I love so much. As someone who doesn’t like the cold, they look perfect for adding an extra layer of warmth.
Bronwen Gwillim
As someone concerned about environmental ethics and the impact of our throw away culture, it is wonderful to see Bronwen repurposing found beach plastic into statement jewellery. Her jewellery is not only attractive but it is making a small dent in the quantity of plastics in our oceans whilst raising an awareness of this issue.
Craft Conversations
During our last Digital Craft Festival, highly acclaimed jewellery, Daphne Krinos joined Amelia Lawrence from Craft Council for a Craft Festival. Be the first to listen back below. More Craft Conversations will be released over the weeks to come.

Fashion Revolution at Find a Maker
This week is Fashion Revolution Week. It is the time when we come together as a global community to create a better fashion industry. It centres around the anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse, which killed 1,138 people and injured many more on 24 April 2013.
At Craft Festival and Find a Maker we champion Slow Fashion and makers who produce skillfully made garments, footwear and accessories that last a lifetime. Here are a selection to discover: Simon Brock Clog Maker, Teresa Green, Loopy Ewes and Ruby Kite.
