Laura Wasley from Plymouth College of Art choses her 5 Festival Favourites on Friday
We work very closely with Plymouth College of Art and they have been a valued partner of the Craft Festival for many years. Laura Wasley has formed a pivotal role in that partnership and we're delighted that she has chosen her 5 Festival Favourites. Laura is Head of Development and Enterprise at Plymouth College of Art.
Is an ex student of mine and one to definitely watch at Bovey this year. Fern has had a whirlwind year showcasing her jewellery in the UK and Europe. Her work is playful and vibrant with shards of colour in geometric forms.
Also PCA Alumni, Val produces beautiful handcrafted one-off pieces and small collections of contemporary jewellery in jesmonite, metals and mixed media taking inspirations from her surroundings in Devon.
Charlotte Miller Ceramics - Ceramics
I first came across Charlotte at the Devon Guild of Craftsman. Her handmade sculptures inspired by domestic animals are quirky and fabulously kitsch! Perfect for those people who can't have a pet!
Kirsty Elson uses found objects and turns them into nostalgic weathered driftwood seaside scenes, you just dream of being 2 inches tall!!. I'm getting there early as she sells out quick!!!
My purchases last year at Bovey was from Rebecca Proctor at Modern Craft Workshop. Rebecca's hand-thrown local stoneware pieces are clean and simple and beautiful to hold, perfect for a morning mug of coffee.
